"Girl With Kuffieyah" 2024, Linoleum Print | I wanted to highlight the suffering of Palestinian children, and the other innocent souls dying at the hands of isreal's genocide. Using the Palestinain flag color pallete, as well as symbolism representative of palestine to further the pain and suffering they are going through.
"Peace" 2024, Relief Print With Linoleum | For this print, I wanted to create a piece that resignated with me as a child. In this, I wanted to highlight a Muslim woman looking off at a beautiful sunrise. This piece is reminisant of my childhod, being raised in Denver, CO; and wanted to create work that includes Muslim woman in a none fetishizing way.
"My Heart Is Palestinian" 2024, Relief Print With Linoleum and Chineoclle | Continuing to focus on Palestine; especially with the holiest month of the Islamic calendar (Ramadan) in mind, this piece was created .In the month of Ramadan we fast from sun up to sun down, in order to let go of worldly things and focus on worshiping God. During this month, I thought a lot about the Palestinians, and how those in Gaza were fasting not out of a want; but because israel is actively starving them. For this piece, I wanted to keep Palestinians in my heart and pray for their safety and victory. The heart with tasbih (like a rosary) being the center focus is meant to represent holding the religion and Palestine close to the heart. Around the heart, I put the traditional kuffieyah pattern, and poppies to represent Palestine. In the corners I added 3D plumeras, as they are flowers that grow in Gaza. The colors are based on the Palestinian flag.

For my body of work (artist book and scroll), I wanted to go in depth on the relationship Islam has to Palestine, and how the connection is deeper than it seems on the surface. Palestine, not only is land that is promised to the Muslims by God, but is mentioned heavily throughout the Quran. With my pieces, I wanted to be able to give peace through mentioning quotes from the Quran that correlate with the genocide. Through printmaking, I combined screenprinting and relief linoleum to create a text pages, as well as scenes depicting the death and destruction to further share the innate relationship of Palestine and Islam. To start, I created 5 artist books; three soft back and 2 hard back. Each book contains 4 pages, two pages being quotes from the Quran and the other 2 are images of the death from media outlets. The book is made in a way that allows for the pages to flow and not have a specific order in which it must be viewed. For the construction of the book, I was heavily inspired by Anna Mavromatis called Human Rights Blues”. I also constructed a 60 inch x 11 inch chiffon scroll with collected screen printed imagery of the destruction of the land, buildings, and homes; as well as the strength the the Palestinians hold. The color palette in both of these pieces contains warm brows, deep reds, and beiges to evoke the feelings of dirt and blood.
